The stones market has its cycles, sometimes the demand is huge, sometimes we have more offers than demand. When the offers are big, it’s easier to buy and to have the materials delivered to you, however when the market is hot, you need to be constantly pushing the supplier to delivery your order, we do it for you!

Some opportunities of good price or good material can only be found personally, during factory visits. Our teams are always looking at materials on the resin line, to find nice blocks when it’s being produced, before the sales team offers to their clients. For some materials that are hot in the market, it is much easier find the perfect block in this stage, fresh from the oven. Another type of opportunity occurs when we know the suppliers are not able to sell certain blocks for a long time, so we can make offers, ask for prices that will be good for the supplier and for our clients.

Everyone that is in the stone business knows that the pictures generally do not show the correct color. During the visit of our clients, we learn from them about the colors that are better for their market and what is acceptable or not, so we know how to approve or reject material according to our clients requests. Even the basic materials can be difficult when you approve by pictures. The yellow ones for example can have a pink or orange tonality that you cannot see in pictures. The other way around also occurs, on pictures the material often looks terrible but in fact is much better.

When we inspect materials, we quickly decide if the material will work for your market this makes the suppliers happy and most of the time gives us priority, once they know we will ship fast. Importers that do not have an inspector, often takes longer time to approve a material, which makes the supplier think twice before offering them the material.

Measurements are very important in the stone industry. Half inches can seem like a small difference on the amount of single invoice, but when you calculate it over the containers shipped during the year, you are losing a lot of money if you don’t get the right measurements. We always pay attention to fissures that should be discounted, and broken corners. Material with high price such as the super exotics, we always inspect and measure slab by slab, in this case 1 centimeter makes a huge difference on the amount of the invoice.

Many times we find defects that the suppliers agree to lower the price of the material, which results in better price, but still materials being good. Many times its thin lines, small concentration or color variation that cannot be noted on the pictures.
